On June 17, 2000 April Davis became April Saraceni when she was
married to her
college sweetheart, Derrick Saraceni at University Friends Church in Wichita, Kansas
(Slideshow).
Derrick is making his career in the
Air
Force and Mr. & Mrs. Derrick Saraceni resided in
Anchorage, Alaska
from June 2000 to early 2002 where Derrick was stationed at
Elmendorf AFB. While in Anchorage, April taught elementary school at
Sonrise Christian School. In early 2002, Derrick attended
Officers Training
School at
Maxwell AFB in
Montgomery, Alabama
while April spent some time with
her parents and
family in
Wichita, Ks. During her stay, April worked as a substitute teacher at
Wichita Friends School where
she had
taught previously.
Derrick graduated from OTS on in a huge
ceremony on May 24, 2002. They moved to
Vandenberg, AFB near
Lompoc, California in June of 2002
where they had their
first house. At Vandenberg, Derrick received specific training to be an Officer in the
Air Force Space
and Missiles Program. In December of 2002 they moved to
Great Falls, Montana
where Derrick now works as a 2nd Lieutenant at
Malmstrom AFB.
April & Derrick moved into
their home on Malmstrom AFT base,
Great Falls, MT, on May 23, 2003. In early
June they got a new puppy named Toby, a frisky little
Jack Russell Terrier.
April & Derrick are hosting an exchange student for the 2004 school year.
Katryn arrived about
a month before school started and they all took a trip to Kansas to see
April's
family.
In September April announced that she is pregnant
and will be due in May of 2005. April visited Haysville (home) in March and many
of her family and friends threw a
baby
shower for her. Here is a picture of April's baby at
24 weeks,
25 weeks,
33 weeks,
35 weeks,
Family at 35 weeks,
OH MY GOSH (36 weeks + 3 days).
Leo Christopher Saraceni
was born on May 30, 2005 at Benefis hospital and weighed in at 10lb 2oz and was 21 inches long.
Leo was so big that he couldn't be delivered but the C-section went well and
they both came through it in good shape. Mom (Cindi) and Dad (Daryl) were there
for the birth and enjoyed seeing the new grandson but had to go home on June 2.
Katryn left for home (Germany) on June 8 and April & Derrick were really sad to
see her go, but she was anxious to get home and all were happy that she got to
spend almost a year with them.
Cindi visited again on June 9 for about two weeks. Dad (Rick) and Step Mom
(Kathy) visited in July for a few days and Mom (Beata) and Step-Dad (Wolfgang)
from Germany also visited in July and August for approximately one month.

April came home to visit her parents and little sister Ashley in
August 2005 and stayed for the Davis Family Reunion at Marcia's on Sunday,
September 4. Everyone was glad to see her and Leo.
Leo
learned to swim in Marcia's pool.
Leo is really growing (9-18-05) and starting to chew on his fingers, April's fingers and
will soon be chewing on everything he gets his hands on . .
Chewy, Chewy, Chewy,
Chewy, Chewy, Chewy, Chewy Baby. He also got a new
Exersaucer and he is
having a great time playing with all the colorful things on it trying to fly it
around the room.
October 2005 - Leo is learning to vocalize and is starting to make
squeak noises. He
will be talking any time now.
April started a Home Business in October, 2005 selling Discovery Toys. She has
her own website and will book parties via catalog or internet show, or plan a
show for when she is in the Wichita area. April chats with her family on MSN Messenger and
shows off her big boy on her webcam, she would show you the Discovery Toys
she has to offer via the webcam, too. Please take a moment to look at April's
website,
and feel free to pass it on to anyone you know who might be interested in
quality educational toys.
October 27, 2005 - Leo wants to crawl
so bad he can hardly stand it. He is so determined, but
he just can't quite get his hands and knees on the floor at the same time, but
when he does there will be no stopping him.
December 6, 2005 - Well he finally succeeded.
Leo crawled today.
There will be no stopping him now! Leo got a early Christmas gift (Dec. 9) from
his Grandma & Grandpa - its a
rocking horse and we
think he likes it, but he liked playing in the packing peanuts even more. He
looked like he was buried in a
snow drift.
In mid April of 2006 Leo started
walking. In no time at all he was
running all
over the house, pushing his walker, banging into doorways, and laughing all the
way. He is so cute.
In May Derrick was promoted to
Captain. Cindi and Ashley were so lucky to be there at were able to attend
the ceremony. Cindi and April even got pin his stripes on his uniform.
April, Derrick and Leo took a trip to Germany, to see Derrick's
Mother (Beate) and
Stepfather (Wolfgang) and other relatives in late October, 2006, for about 2 weeks. While in Germany they also visited Katrin,
their former exchange student, and stayed a couple of nights in her parent's
hotel in Schomberg. Photos of the trip can be seen in her
photo album. Leo
is at the age that he is trying to repeat everything he hears and is doing a
pretty good job. Wolfgang loved playing with Leo and talking to him and
since Wolfgang only speaks German and Leo repeats everything he hears, he picked
up a little German along the way. They also took a side trip to France with
Katrin, Katrin's mother,
Beate and Wolfgang.
Derrick got his orders when they returned from Germany and they will be moving
to Cavalier, North Dakota,
in the spring after a stop in California for a few weeks for
training. Cavalier is about 15
miles south of the Canadian border and
882 miles straight north of
Wichita, Ks. He will be assigned to the
10th Space Warning Squadron at Cavalier Air Force Station. The squadron is a
geographically separated unit of the
21st Space Wing,
Peterson Air Force Base, CO. This will be a bit of a career change for
Derrick. Throughout his career is Space & Missiles, he has been working mainly in
Missiles and he will now be working
in Space at Cavalier Air Force Station. The squadron monitors and tracks
potential missile launches against the United States and monitors everything in
Space including space junk like an astronaut's lost glove. His report date is no
later than April 15, 2007, and they will be there for 2 years.
They got a big snow in Great Falls on November 25, 2006 and
Leo helped Derrick shovel the sidewalk. He is growing up so fast. Listen to
him say shovel!
April,
Derrick, and little
Leo are in transition to
their new home in Cavalier, ND. They visited Daryl, Cindi, & Ashley in Kansas
for a couple of weeks and Autumn, Taylor, & Jason in N.V. for a couple of days in February on their
way to training in California for about a month. Leo got to meet
M&M Yellow, he is growing so much and
starting to talk in sentences. Leo
walked on the ocean beach,
fed a giraffe,
chased some birds,
saw some penguins, and
Derrick fed an ostrich. They will be passing back through Kansas in late
March to pick up Toby who
is staying with Daryl, Cindi, & Ashley.
April /07 - Derrick
graduated from training in California at the top of his class and April,
Derrick, Leo, and Toby are in their new location at
Cavalier Air
Force Station, Cavalier, N.D. They spent a short time in the base hotel and
Toby stayed at Ruffin-it Doggie Day Care
while awaiting their belongings (check out the
webcam, it's pretty funny (username: ruff, password: ruff), you may have to
install some software. Their belongings are expect to arrive on Saturday 4/7 so
they can move into
their house on base. We all had a great time while they were in Kansas,
Leo and grandpa
had fun with
stickers. He is talking a blue streak, running in circles, and climbing on
everything, and he even learned how to drink from the water fountain.
Toby is as hyper as
ever.
More to come . . .
